Welcome to Shelf Space
OK, confession time.
I used to be a voracious reader. Some of my earliest memories are of sitting by the front door waiting for the school bus, book in hand, looking up every few lines to make sure the driver didn’t leave without me.
For as long I can remember, libraries and bookstores have had a hold over me. Something about the endless shelves chock-full of books makes me feel safe and comfortable and all fuzzy inside. To this day I rarely make it out of either without something new. Which explains the ever expanding collection of titles that has currently stuffed up my own shelves at home.
What it doesn’t explain is why the majority of those books sit there patiently waiting to be read. Because you see, gentle viewer, at some point I transformed from a voracious reader to a voracious collector, buying or borrowing new books when there are (dare I say) hundreds at home that I have yet to crack.
At the beginning of this year I decided that 2013 would be my year of “Making Space” — of clearing out the clutter in my home & my mind to make room for new adventures. Shelf Space is one way for me to do just that. It gives me a place to pledge that I will read all the books I already own before I buy anything new.
Of course I would love to have some company on this ?neverending? journey, so if you’ve got you’re own collection that’s busting at the seams just waiting for you to dive in, why not read along with me?
So whaddya say? Shall we read?
